Aesop Tampines store with beige walls displaying Aesop products

Finding inspiration in Singapore’s traditional housing vernacular and street furniture, Aesop Tampines was created by our in-house Design Team as an homage to the tropical architecture of the Garden City. The layout echoes the central atrium that is a common feature of the city’s homes, rising high into the warm sky to draw cool air into surrounding rooms. Located in the eastern neighbourhood, the space reflects this sense of refreshing atmosphere and inviting repose, as a place where to pause and relax but also congregate and interact.

Beckoning visitors inside from the bustling mall walkways is a gently curved opening, with a large hand-cast pebble wash monolith at its core. This textured central island stands as the focus of activity, with two basins that allow for initial greetings from the staff and first encounters with products. The smooth shelves on the surrounding walls are lined with formulations that stand as an amber glass audience to these interactions, while also inviting engagement with their own individual forms.

Beyond this main chamber, a continuous plinth along the walls encourages customers to explore partitioned areas on the periphery. One is a skin care sanctuary, where customers can enjoy a measure of intimacy and try on formulations as they would at home—a lower sink has been added so waiting children can join in the sensorial process of selection. On the opposite side lies a Fragrance Library, which offers an olfactory glimpse into Aesop’s range of unconventional aromas. Throughout, fixtures and forms take playful cues from Singapore’s street furniture: the pebble wash on the floor and the yellow accents throughout recall the city’s mosaic playgrounds, as does a low-slung circular seating area.
