Aesop K11 Musea

Robust, local materials anchor the design of Aesop K11 Musea in Hong Kong. Granite, ubiquitous in the region’s built environment, becomes the sculptural focus of the space: carved and chiselled faces create cloud-like forms that ripple across the walls, casting dramatic shadows. Order is found in the repeating lines of the stainless-steel shelves and the rhythm of perpendicular planes. Cantilevered granite surfaces serve as basin, counter, and seat—the finer grain of the honed finish sits in contrast with the rough-hewn walls. The basin slopes gently towards the centre of the monolithic granite slab, inviting graceful interactions with Aesop’s complete range of skin, hair and body care products. Monochromatic harmony is reinforced by a modest concrete floor and a ceiling of expanded metal sheeting.
