Our Calle Fernando store brings together and transforms distinctively Spanish artistic pursuits. The design was conceived in collaboration with Madrid-based architects Ciszak Dalmas Ferrari. Nestled in the historic heart of La Salesas, the site is directly across the road from the Art Nouveau Palacio de Longoria. From the outside, the palace’s marvellously ornate façade appears as a reflection on the windows of our boutique. If caught at a certain angle, the mirrored building seems to merge with the four intricately decorated columns that grace the interior—a mirage of sorts. And if this is not beguiling enough, the nonconformist aromas emanating from the entrance might encourage passersby to delve into the sensorial world within.

Curious feet step in onto a trencadís mosaic typical of Catalan Modernist architecture. Non-uniform shards of broken terracotta ceramics were set into a puzzle that covers the floor and creeps up onto the skirting boards and countertops. This fragmented graphic ensemble carries out a playful dialogue with the orderly black and alabaster labels of our range of products for the skin, hair, body and home that sit neatly around the room. At the central basins—sculptures crafted from Spanish silvestre granito, walnut burl timber, and hammered glass—customers can explore said formulations with running water. The same catedral glass, with its unique textured finish, creates a serene interplay of light and shadow in the portico that divides the front from the back of house. Walls are rendered in a fine-grain clay plaster; small artworks—an abstract wall relief and a figurative oil painting—delight what eyes may linger.
