The shower, your stage: enhancing ablutions with Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser

The connection between the bathtub and relaxation is an intricate cultural construct. Depending on the individual, it may bring to mind tea lights, a steamy haze, whale songs, or a paperback held perilously close to the water’s surface. The shower, meanwhile, may occupy a very different place in our collective imagination: one of cold awakenings and rushed routines. Yet this unassuming space can be a stage for creative thinking and expression: a three-or-so-minute interlude from the everyday, where one is free to sing and splash about with abandon.

Created with both the skin and senses in mind, our body washes have long encouraged this intentional approach to bathing. The most recent addition to the range, Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser—our first shower cream—, is a continuation of this heritage. With its comforting texture and woody, spicy, herbaceous aroma, it transforms the shower into a most sensorial space—where the simple act of cleansing is imbued with joy.

This heightened feeling is brought to life through a specially commissioned dance piece by Nayoung Kim, a current dancer at Tanztheater Wuppertal. In the performance, small moments that are often overlooked—of splashing, lathering and rinsing—are expressed in unexpectedly mirthful ways. It is a celebration not just of Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser, but of showering itself.

If bathing is conducive to a state of stillness and calm, showering is a sonically—and physically—more energetic activity. And while the white noise of falling water has its own musical quality, our ‘Songs for Showering’ playlist provides a different kind of accompaniment. Its selections range from hot rhythms to gently flowing soundscapes, with each track allowing just enough time to warm up, test the acoustics, and clean between the toes.

When the shower ends, the steam clears, and the last drops of water fall to the floor, the bathroom can feel like a more prosaic place. Thankfully, our post-bathing formulations and fragrances ensure this sensation is only fleeting. Should inspiration be needed, here are some sensorial suggestions, each chosen to complement the woody, spicy, herbaceous fragrance of Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser.
