Set in a light-filled corner of Westfield Booragoon, in the southern suburb of Perth, the entirely glazed Aesop Booragoon uses materials inherited from industry to create a scenographic space—part neighbourhood boutique, part gallery. Inspired by functional modernism, the design embraces the use of modular systems suited to industrial production methods—a celebration of the poetics of the technical object. The carefully arranged amber bottles form an inviting tableau, resembling an energetic workshop before the day commences, furnished with simple materials such as plywood panelling, threaded rods and exposed iron girders. Three metal cabinets on swivel props stand as focal points, offering an opportunity to interact with the mise-en-scène. Distinct textures of light are fashioned by way of various filters. Frosted glass is used as a screen, providing abstract colour and texture modulation.

The metal motif continues in the cladding of the central consultation counter, inlaid with basins at either end, which sits atop a sea of water-green ceramic tiles—the colour of the flooring and the naturally stained wood wall counterbalancing the raw materials and off-the-shelf industrial parts which define the general aesthetic. A peripheral wall fulfills the functions of seat, display surface and integrated storage space.
